whats the gearing like on the road comp, im a relative newbie with this stuff but been reading alot. one of the major factors for me choosing the road comp is the range of gears, fast at the top end and good on the hills. cant wait
You have summed it up , the road comp has an 11-32 cassette with a 50/34 compact chainset so you get a wide range of gears that you can spin up pretty much any hill or fast enough so your only going to spin out down some monster hills on the way down. The only down side to this is bigger jumps in gear ratios compared to a closer range cassette but unless your racing and need to keep on an optimum cadence all the time i doubt you will even notice.
I recently changed my cassette to a closer range but its nice to have the option.
Hi all!! I'm starting out bikeing mainly to get to work and back although would like to do this as a hobbie....
I've saw two bikes I like, boardman road comp and cannondale synapse 7, both top end of my budget.
Witch one would you go for??
I was in the same boat last year when i was looking for C2W, at the time the boardman offerred the most bang for the buck and once i got my fit dialed in i can ride most of the day and still feel comfortable albeit knackered
Sit on them, ride if possible. Both good bikes.

As 530 says at this price point there are not really any bad bikes, just ones that feel better dependant on what suits the way you like to ride .
