Hey, hope someone can help me. I have just bought a 2nd hand Boardman pro 29er and its got a bad creak in the PF30 bottom bracket. I realise these PF30 can start creaking after a short duration so I wanted to upgrade, perhaps to a screw thread bracket, however I have no idea what to get and really dont wont to fork out for another chanset set although I fear this will be necessary if I change the bracket type, unless anyone has any ideas otherwise? Basically I'm looking for the chepaest option that will do me a few thousand miles before it has another issue.
Hope someone can help
Sincerely
Neil

It may be possible to fit an adapter to turn it into a threaded bb but that isn't going to be cheap. Plenty of bikes with PF30 bb are perfectly ok. With it being second hand I'd just change the bearings first - the creak can come from badly installed bearings so get the job done properly and ensure plenty of grease is used. Bearings are not expensive anyway

Thanks for the advice, I can to the same conlcusion. Why waste money when I can go for the cheap option first. I have a Boardman racer with a BB30 too so its worth getting the BB removal tool and some bearings and see what happens. Fingers crossed it'll go well!
Thanks again
Neil.
