Boardman Hybrid Team Bike?

Thinking of geting a Boardman Hybrid Team bike from Halfords. Price seems decent and specs look great but some of my buddies are warning me off that Halfords are not always the best in completing the builds. While I love my cycling, I lack the technical knowledge to know what to look for when checking whether the work is good enough and am unlikely to spot problems until I have had it for a while. Any advice?

It's not my area of expertise but we have some Ridgeback bikes at home so like the brand but the equivalent is £100 quid more. The Boardman does seem to give a good spec for the price and I'd be tempted to get it if you want it and take it from there.

As I say its not my area but there are a few Merida bikes parked around work which look nice
