Helllo , im after peoples opinions on the Boardman range of Helmets.

Are they just rebranded from another manufacturer or unique to Boardman ? and possibly more importantly are they any good ?

Im being pestered for Christmas present ideas and my wife has hinted on one of these

Many thanks

Here for rides.
they have passed the same dire tests as all the other helmets on the market so no better or worse than anything else.

Make sure she tries the helmet on first.
All helmet's are different fits and sizes.
A Boardman helmet may be comfortable for one person doest mean it's comfy for another.

As Ianrauk says, either get her to try one on or keep the receipt in case it is a poor fit.

I've got an Echelon, comfy enough, didn't pay £50, £30 I think in a sale

The Specialized helmets also pass the SNELL test unlike most (can't recall the details)

Two points, both already voiced above.

Never buy a helmet that has not been tried on and is comfortable when properly fitted

Always look for a Snell rated helmet

Completely agree with Cunobelin. Helmets are very different and if you have not bought before, it will take time to get around a range of cycle shops to try out various offerings. You might struggle to find a Snell one though - as most on sale are only made to the lower standard.

The problem with Snell, is that it is by far the toughest standard to pass.

However some manufacturers will simply not go through the expense and hassle of having Snell test their products. After all testing a shop bought helmet (the same as you or I would wear) as opposed to a batch made for testing is (potentially) a risk

It is probably likely that many Giro helmets would pass the Snell B90 if tested, it is simply that they do not endorse the test.

I simply prefer the reassurance of a proven standard and the helmets that have passed it

I've got one.
Bought purely because it fit me better than any other brand/model of helmet I could afford.

It's well made, comfortable and after 18mnths still looks like new.
