boardman gear selection

i have bought a boardman road sport 2014 from halfords but I am unable to change gear on the two front sprockets can go down but not back up

The cable tension on the front derailleur is not set correctly. There are 2 options; fix it yourself or take it back for Halfords to fix it. It will be a 5 min job.

Taken it back, tell them to fix it or you'll write to Chris Boardman himself to.complain.

Presume it's the front chain set.
Insufficient tension on the cable. Just change the front shifter into the low cog taking all tension of the cable. Loosen pinch bolt and pull the cable with your fingers ( finger tight will do) re tighten pinch bolt and try it out. You shouldn't have to tinker with the H & L limiter screws. If you don't want to do that bring it back to Halfords. It' due the first free service anyway if you haven't already got it. Regards.

Have you tried giving the lever another pump to take up any slack, lower groups tends to take more effort . Falling that, I would take it back to halfords and ask them to do a full pre delivery check again, a non shifting bike is not a good sign of workmanship from any bike store

Just take it back. End of. You shouldn't be tinkering with a new bike.
