Well, I had to go out and give the new bike a test run. Only did 10miles but, oh my, what a difference to the Apollo Mountain bike (First time on a road bike.)

The route was most of my normal commute and I barely felt like I was pedalling. The difference was amazing. The bike was almost silent (something else I'm not used to).

I got used to the Tiagra shifters quite quickly and it's quite astounding the power you get out of your legs because you're pushing and pulling on the pedals instead of just mashing them to death.

No clipless moment but I had a hard time getting my foot in when I started off.

All in all a good little ride and cannot wait to get out there and do a proper run.

Needless to say I'm very happy so far.

I'll shut up now...

Bye for now!

Yes, yes, yes, never mind all that ... let's have some PHOTOS!!!!! ;)

It is an amazing difference when you move from and MTB to a road bike though - fantastic feeling - like someone has taken off your lead tyres and stuck a rocket on the back of your bike at the same time.

Have fun.

Cheers,
Shaun

Not really encompassing the broad 'church' of cycling are we?
In the context, moving to a road bike for use on the road does give, IMO, the "fantastic" or "amazing" feelings described.

Horses for courses... preferably for main course with a nice red wine and onion sauce.

Yes always nice to see pics of bikes in a sterile studio environment on a website rather then seeing pics of what someone has actually bought xx(

Funny you should say that, i was accused of the very same thing by my wife and daughter at the weekend. I just put it down to them being more gullable when talking to shop assistants than me .......... but now maybe not

Because of the weather mine looks a little bit like the one on the website but really muddy. I wouldn't want to post that, everyone might think i am just a scruffy trogg who doesn't love his bike

Go for it, they already think you're a grumpy barsteward! I'll keep you company by posting a pic of mine, which is also muddy, when I get home.
