Hi All,

New to mountain biking, boardman has been doing great but getting an increasing drumming sound from front disk when breaking hard and at speed.

Checked the pads they are AOK, checked the alignment, no rubbing, the only thing I can see is on the front disk the pads are rubbing on the disk and a part of the disk spoke as well, see attatched.

The drumming is many times per wheel cycle so it adds up.

So is this normal ? And if not short of packing out the calipers with washers are there any other solutions ?

Many thnaks

Id say it's ok..
if you shim the calipers you will have pad overlap..your disc is wearing to the outer edge.so you dont want to go any further.
the large pads on my new guide R brakes use all the braking surface and a bit of the rotor spokes ..

are the pads working well is and contamination or pad damage?
Could be duff pads? I just got new uberbyke pads semi metalic ,superb and only 6 quid touch

I've had drumming once. New pads sorted it in my case. Couldn't see anything wrong with rotors or pistons.
