Bluetooth HRM's, how, or what to mount phone?

Just call me Chris...
I've tried both a Polar, and the current Wahoo bluetooth hrm's, and both are pretty hopeless because the phone is in a rucksack or saddle bag.
How can I mount the phone, anyone use a handlebar bag or similar? I don't want to mount the phone to the bars (like a bike computer) because it lives in a protective case which makes it enormous and I want it safely out of the way.
Any thoughts?

I have one of those "tri bags", but I've ditched it in favour of Jersey pockets.

Are you carrying a rucksack whilst training, or recording heart rate whilst commuting?

thanks for that, looks as if it could be ideal. Do you think it would hamper gear indexing (my cables run on top of the top tube)

I can't carry my phone behind me because of the loss of bluetooth reception, plus it would drown in sweat!
I'm recording heart rate whilst commuting and just riding in general. It's throwing the calorie burn calculations way off though as it keeps dropping out and giving a very low average.

Excellent, thanks for that. I shall order one right now.

HR during a commute won't matter too much. Just put in your average HR at the end, it won't vary much from commute to commute.

And truly training hard in a commute is a dangerous idea.

That ignored, you can use an armband for your phone.

If the tri bag idea doesn't go to plan, I've recently started using a quad lock handlebar mount and really can't recommend it enough. The case is not much thicker than the official apple job I had for my iPhone 6 previously and it comes with a weather resistant cover that's easily removed.

Very impressed.
