Haven't had a decent ride since my collision and the fitness has been waning

Had to go up to Hull today to check over/read meters etc of my late mother's house following its sale so had planned on taking advantage of the flatter/gentler rolling hills on my old "stomping ground" to have a longer ride without having to climb first

Had a nice 30 miler planned from Orchard Park to Cottingham to South Cave, Ellerker, Swanland, over Humber Bridge and back, Hessle back to Hull then through town up Beverly Road back to OPE

So of course today isn't drizzle, it's continued rain with regular episodes of lashing it down

So I drive up sans-bicyclette late afternoon and of course by then the sun is out and its a nice summer evening

Bah...

chucking it down here this morning so will wait till tonight and hope the weather improves otherwise no ride for me today.
I admit to be a fair weather rider and I stick to it. At my age, I cant afford falls on wet road, so why take the chance?

Sheff, have you pedaled along the prom at Hull? On a non-road bike you can get all the way from the bridge to the ferry and then down Sutton Road or Stoneferry back to OPE. A road bike would mean a slight detour to St Andrews Quay or a bit of a bumpy ride/walk for about a mile though, but still more relaxing than 'ezzel or Anlaby rerd.

PS, just got back from a short spin and it's just right here at the moment. Slight breeze and ideal temperature.

I had a good ride yesterday; it was windy and I didn't fancy an out and round trip so when the sun came out mid afternoon I persuaded Mrs Gti and Gti Junior to drive me over to Blackpool, where I assembled the bike on the prom and enjoyed a glorious wind-powered 30 mile blast back home, blown by the westerly, averaging 19.1 mph!

The forecast was for a window of good weather between 3 and 6 and bang on 6 pm the rain started again. I was in a nice hot bath by then!

Coventry seems to be a sunshine and showers type day today. Having been out for the last four Sundays I'm on a rest weekend , today's the wifes birthday so no chance of getting out, so though I'm not to bothered what the weather does it would have been nice to have a dry Sunday so I can catch up with the garden.

It's absolutely lashing down and beating against the windows here in Lancs. It even work us up in the night.

There are several hundred motorcyclists camping down the road at BAe Samlesbury. Poor devils!
