Blackpool Illuminations ride - Tuesday 31st Aug

Not sure if it has been mentioned but the Ride The Lights event in Blackpool is this Tuesday.

The promenade is closed to cars and cyclists have a free reign.

Starts at sundown.

Last year we did it along with 1000s of others and it was great fun.

Just saw a group on about 10 women at preston train stations, all with bromptons getting on the blackpool train. Guess they were heading to this.

It was terrifying; we arrived an hour earlier than last year, starting at around 7.20 and the Front was a mass of idiots bumbling around on crap MTBs and BSOs with kids on BMXs swerving through them. The best bit was the cod and chips I ate at the end.

really dangerous when a lot of kids had no idea what safe cycling is......saw a couple of crashes......

Yep it wasnt the safest ride I've ever been on, saw a few collisions and frayed tempers, but all in all I think most people seemed to have a good time. As I've stated elsewhere, its great to see our sport being enjoyed by so many.

I was there too, had a good time, very busy though. Some silly ar$es, but you get them everywhere.

I thought it was great despite the yobs on bmx's and the lycra brigade trying to set land speed records.

Perfect weather, nice drink at the Dutton and fish n chips at Bispham, can't go wrong there.

Seemed busier than last year too.
