I see the increasing use of Bimble and Pootle in peoples description of rides, especially on Strava, to me its always been a ride when I go out on the bike.

So whats the difference between a Bimble and a Pootle ? are they the same thing ? when does a Bimble become a Pootle ? when does a Pootle become a Bimble?

Bimble implies wandering around in a random fashion changing direction at a whim. Pootle is a definite journey/route taken slowly. In my world.
A friend describes Bimbling pedestrians as the ones that swerve all over the pavement making totally random stops to the great inconvenience of all around them.

When you pimble to Bootle.

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
I thought it was bumbling along. IE a pedestrian bumbling along, not knowing where they are going. And pootling is having a destination to go to but very slowly, not in a hurry to get there. Pootling along can be done on foot or in bike.

It has more to do with the intent, rather than how you are doing it.

That seems to be my big worry because at the speeds I'm doing I get passed by anyone bimbling or pooleting about
