So got up this morning and thought I'd take one of the dogs on a wee run with the bike to see how it goes. I have 3 dogs, but only one of them I take out running (as the other 2 wouldn't handle long distance). So I had read loads about the do's and don't about this and thought just see how it goes. We had a very enjoyable 12k ride at 6am... she's been fast asleep the rest of the day

Sounds like fun. I take it you avoid the roads. lol

Yeah take mine on the bike, he loves it. Furthest we've done is 5 miles though, he's still young. When he's fully grown we'll do more. We use a local path or Delamere forest, which is his favourite as he gets a bit of my bacon butty half way around.

LOL

Yeah, was on NCR7 so clear path all the way (aprt from the glass) was fun indeed. Wouldnn't try it with the other two, Greyhound wouldn't like to run that distance and the Rotttie would be a nightmare... though I want to try him pull me along on rollarsaktes (we wearing them that is!)

Ricky's been doing this on and off all his life. He's getting a bit old for it now, though, and can only manage three or four miles.

His predecessor, Sam, used to run with me along the Wey South Path. He was one of those dogs that liked to carry a stick in his mouth. If it was a long stick, I'd hang onto the other end, and he'd tow me along that way.

My friends boyfriend takes their dog out mountain biking with him.
I find it bad enough just taking my dads dog out running. He usually wants to go in the completely opposite direction to me, or wants to stop and sniff something, practically yanking my arm out its socket!

That's what I plan to do with mine. He's reasonably predictable, comes past me on the right and then drifts across to the left, stops suddenly to sniff something and then legs it, comes past on the right ........ you get the picture. When I go to the forest, he generally crashes through the undergrowth next to me. If I ever stop he pops out way in front of me and looks back as if to say, well, where are you? He will run to heel as well or rather wheel but not for long, it's all too exciting going that fast. We haven't done running yet but it would be mostly off-lead anyway, beach and path.

It sounds like he'll be fine running then. I generally tend to do mainly road running and Paddy tick tock has no road sense so I have to keep him on the lead. I'll let him off on the beach and he knackers himself out running up and down after seagulls.
