Bike Storage Hangers..

Has anyone tried the wall mounted bike hangers with good success?
The idea looks good but I'm worried about straining the bike and damaging the wheels.

Yup, I have three hangers up my back passage. Two are proper hinged bike hangers while the other is just a couple of £3.99 ladder hanging type dealies from a DIY store.

The one I have has a metal plate thats fixed to the wall and a big hook but its not movable?
Do you have to put any tape round the hook?

I did put some gaffa on the hook to stop it scratching the frame. Hang on, I'll take some photos for you.

If the wheel / rim can take 1/2 of your body weight, it will take the weight of the bike easily. As long as there is a rubberised surface on the tube to avoid scratching the rims, I see no problems with that.

I use the big red hooks you get from the pound shops, screwed into the joists on my gaage roof.

I use the big red pound shop hooks too, I just try to hang it from a different part of the rim each time. always from the rear wheel though I don't wanna strain the head bearings.

A bit of foam pipe lagging around the hook, or even around the part of the bike you are going to hang from will protect it.
