Mr Spinney and I now have a garage, and would like a bike stand to help with maintenance.
Any recommendations?
I saw the thread about Lidl stands today, but the price isn't a big issue (unless it's a silly price!), but we want something that feels solid, and is adjustable.

Unless you're planning to use the stand every day, then you can't go wrong with the Lidl one. Good solid construction, stable in use, great bit of kit. Google "Lidl bike work stand" and read the reviews.
Oh, don't forget, it comes with a 3 year manufacturers guarantee

If you can get hold of one that is. Big empty space where some stands were before being snapped up in my local Lidl early this morning. Did get a couple of wall bike storage brackets though, which might help with minor jobs.

I got 2, 1 last night for myself and 1 this afternoon for a colleague. I went last night on the advice of many on here as they get put out the shop floor on the evening before.

If you need to hold the bike at any angle, say 60 degrees or vertical, the cheaper stands are not as good for this. If you are using it as a serious piece of kit and money is not a major obstacle then probably go for a more professional stand.

I have a stand similar to the Lidl one and I have to say I'm very pleased with it, its fine for simple DIY maintenance and cleaning. I couldn't justify the extra outlay otherwise I'd have gone for a better one.

I went out and bought a lidl stand just before the shop closed today.

Arf. I started walking with mine under my arm and wheeling the bike. Got fed up quick and stuck it vertical in the pannier and jobs a good un.

Nice. :becool: I think I'd have put it on the other way. It'd make the bike a lot wider, but I imagine you'd get less close passes. Just got to remember not to filter.

I was planning on getting one, but decided to save the £30 towards (hopefully) a Carrera Subway.
