Maps weren't working a couple of days ago. Try ride with GPS. Not a bad alternative.
It's been down for some days, if not weeks. It says here that it's caused by Google changing something technical about their maps and BRT not being able to cope with it. Nothing you can do about it.
Time to choose an alternative mapping site.

Bike route Toaster has been only working intermittently for the last few months anyway, and last year they had a lot of down time. Switch to a more reliable alternative.

Bikehike is another easy to use one similar to BRT. I had a stack of routes saved on BRT not really important but never the less annoying.
Will give Pp petes suggestion a go as well.

You should still be able to export your saved routes from bikeroutetoaster as gpx files.
