I'm going out to a lodge in the general area and looking to hire a road bike for a few days; can anyone recommend bike hire places?

Being a bit more specific would help - Glasgow and Ayr covers a huge area!

You're right, that makes total sense but we'll be based between Ayr and Glasgow with a car so I can travel a reasonable distance to pick a bike up.
So anything in Ayr, Irvine, Troon, Androssan, Kilmarnock, East Kilbridge, Dalry, Johnstone, Motherwell, Paisley, and Glasgow City area is in scope for me. Essentially anything in a 35mi radius of Prestwick

Ah, the car makes things a bit easier then!

I think they're mostly MTB/hybrid, but they'd be a good starting point.

Irvine advise that if you're looking to hire when the Open is at Troon (14-21 July) availability may be limited.
