Hi there

New to to the board, have a bike i bought ages ago for £50,does the job.
Now i want to start cycling to work 8 miles each way, wonder how much to spend on a bike to get something decent, notice Halfords have a few there, one at £200 looks decent lightweight frame etc

Never bought a bike for this money so need some guidance if possible please

appreciated

Suggest you do a month or two on the bike you've got first to see if it's right for you or not.

We have available a great selection of Electric Bikes, ride to work or choose to use the electric option, to make sure you dont arrive at work a sweaty mess!

This sounds like a helmet manufacturer to me - promote the scary and bad about cycling in order to sell more helmets/electic bikes, but otherwise put off lots of people who otherwise would cycling.

Take it easy on the ride in, and there's no need to be a sweaty mess at all. An electric bike would be fairly useless to me, because the range is less than my round trip commute, so all I'd be left with is an exceptionally heavy and slow bike.

i would like a bike that gets me to work pretty handy, slim tyres would be good, looking at 8 miles each way, cost max 500 pound.
