In the last few days my bike has felt like it's gone slow on the pedals

It was ok on Saturday when I did 50 miles but yesterday it felt a bit of an effort in gears 12 onward where it doesn't normally

The bike is a 2014 specialized allez done about 450 miles

Any ideas

Tyre pressure? Brakes rubbing the rim? Good lube?

If it's new, take it back to the shop where you bought it for its 6 week or so check over

Nothing is rubbing all is running smoothly as far as I can see

How often should I clean and re line the chain ?

How do you know your slow?

My ride yesterday seemed slow and laboured to me but it was no slower than usual.

I clean and lube my chain every week, can be more in the winter.

I lightly wipe my chain over with a wetwipe after most rides, especially if we've got wet. Wet wipes are the best invention ever. Lube once a week

Maybe you have empty legs. I had this the other night. I laboured around the ride and was convinced that it was really slow. Got home and averaged 14.5mph which was not as hideous as the 8mph average that I had envisiaged.

Have you checked the gear indexing and for cable stretch, often happens with new bikes

Traffic heavier this morning, windier?

It's you. If the wheels spin, and the crankset does, it's you !!! Trade your body in for a new one:tongue:
I usually average between 16-17 was down to 14 this morning
It happens , you have good and bad days.
Take this morning for instance , 2nd night shift so the body clock is still adjusting with no real sleep the 1st day so i came home and averaged 15 mph as i just did not have the oomph or motivation .Normal average for the return commute is hovering around 17 mph dependent on route etc.

I've given the bike a once over and cleaned and re-lubricated the chain

Will see what tomorrow brings but times seem almost the same so I think it's me or in my mind lol
