Bike Decorations

I was wandering around t'internet, as is my wont, and started to see - in various online bike shops, in the accessories section - what I can only call decorations for the bike. Not just handlebar tassels and spoke beads for the kid's bikes, but flower garlands and all sorts of other things and even kits for making said items. eg strings of bunting or pompoms, a lit-up flower garland, something for the Yorkshire folk among us, skulls and crossbones on your tyre valve caps, rude bike lights, programmable wheel lights, a bell shaped like a teapot, and even a flower vase which attaches to your handlebars!

I confess I do like the teapot bell ...LOL! I enjoy making things so I think I'll start making some of these things - bunting, maybe? or pompoms - and decorating my bike with them when I go out for a ride. Maybe I should take bets on whether I am more likely to (a) get laughed at (b) get rotten tomatoes thrown at me or (c) get asked where I obtained such a lovely accessory for my bike ...

One of my cat show friends rides a 1940s ladies' 3-speed roadster with a wicker basket on the front that's decorated with flowers. Not my cup of tea, but I have to confess it makes me smile when I see photos of her and her bike. The bike is called Stanley, btw...

Mind, I do have reflective spoke sleeves on my steeds...

I've taken a few cuttings while I've been out and about - maybe I should consider the handlebar-mounted flower vase - and I am quite serious about decorating my front basket with either pompoms or bunting! Or weaving through it with ribbon or wool ...

And why not? Sometimes it's nice to do something different. :girldance:

I like the flower vase idea, but owning a Brommie the water would fall out every time I folded the handlebar stem 🤔

I once complemented someone in the lift who had made her own elasticated basket top cover. Mind that was primarily a practical thing. not really a decoration or adornment, despite being quite decorative.

In a nod to Poirot above, I sport anodised coloured valve caps with matching cable crimps.

This is my partners bike. She loves a decoration.
She gets smiles and waves where ever she goes.
