Don't know how many CC members also subscribe to Face Book Cycling Advice & Tips (Bike Bible) ? A member asking for security advice or information any device that would alert an owner that their cycle is either been tampered with or stolen, so far the only suggestion is this company http://www.spybike.com/
Can anyone else suggest any other device or company?

Brilliant idea. I particularly like the seat post one but the rear light one would be much more versatile as it would be easy to swap from bike to bike quickly.

Lots of this type of thing on the various start up/crowdfunding sites. None of them have really proven themselves or mainstreamed as they tend to ignore the obvious issues and flaws.
Agreed, now if someone could come up with a really good device that is integrated into the bike in such a fashion that it was extremely difficult to find or remove I for one would be very interested.

One of the guys in my club has the light. He demonstrated it to me a few weeks ago during the cafe stop. Very impressed. It's extremely sensitive and the audible alarm from the phone can't be ignored. He challenged me to spot the alarm. I couldn't.

I did consider if I should buy one and decided I didn't have a use. My expensive bikes are never left alone. If I'm out with the club it would be one of 15-20 locked together, on my own it would be in full view and locked securely enough to prevent theft in the time it would take to get out of the cafe. On my "shopping" bike I carry a very secure lock and the bike's value doesn't warrant £82.

However when I retire next March and my touring increases I think the light would be an excellent investment.

Steve, thanks for your reply, upon Googling found these, not sure if for sale or still in marketing / research stage?

That device and others like it have been around for a while now, although it sounds like a great invention it really is not that much good
Quote; The Cricket uses low-power Bluetooth communications with a range of up to 150 feet .The Cricket works best at close, over the shoulder distances. Is a smart alarm for your bicycle that uses the crowd to help retrieve it.

The device has very limited communication distance and you have to rely on other people having the app to hopefully find your bike, once the device is out of range your bike is lost. The device has to be concealed on the bike and as such it can be found and destroyed or simply thrown away rendering it useless.
Personally a device that fits into the frame of the bike that incorporates gps technology would be far more useful.

Sherlock looked to be similar to spybike but would have worked on my bike. I was in the crowd funder but as they didn't get to their target I was refunded. So still looking.
