I got a pair of Ergo 2s for my birthday. They don't take SPD-Rs. Brixton Cycles called Big Bear, who distribute Sidis, and Big Bear told BC that they should fit. They clearly don't.
So I called Big Bear and got some person on the phone who told me that I was not asking about SPD-Rs, but about SPD-SLs. It took me a little while to convince her that there was indeed an SPD-R pedal, albeit no longer in production. She handed me over to a terse young man who gave me the part number of a converter plate, and told me that Chain Reaction Cycles had them in stock.
I don't use CRC, so I schlepped back to Brixton Cycles and ordered the part through them. Three weeks later it arrived. It is, you'll not be entirely surprised to read, a converter for standard SPDs. The irony is that we didn't know they made these, and had we known we might have bought another pair of Ergo 2s for The Babe to use with her XTR pedals.
So, it looks like I'm going to have to go to SPD-SL pedals, which are listed at a smidge under £200. If that's the way it's going to be, that's the way it's going to be, but shouldn't Big Bear, (who have the chutzpah to rail against grey imports of Sidi shoes because they are, apparently, the experts), have some idea of what an SPD-R pedal is?
I've send them a link............if they want to tell me that they do, in fact, supply plates for SPD-Rs, they can do so here.
