Currently have three bikes (dont ask what three bikes are for not worked than one out yet) stored under large car port. I have currently a bike a plastic sheet over them to protect them from rain which is fine until its windy. I have the bikes stored quite a way into the bike port and never extpected rain to get to them noticed this morning this is not the case. I dont have much space are there any good products to store bikes that are free standing.

Go to your local bed shop and ask them for a few of the big plastic bags that double mattresses are packed in.

Completely waterproof, they completely envelope the bike so won't blow away, and in my experience they're only too glad to get shot of a couple.

Bike cover from Amazon. We have one when camping. Will cover a hybrid and a road bike together easily. Also has eyelets if needed but it's big enough to tuck under the tyres. Certainly survived wind and showers on two camping trips

I have my Devon bike held up by ratchet straps underneath the top of a sloping plastic roof, against the wall of the cottage.

That seems to give the bike enough protection from the elements. It had been like that for over 3 years in October and was still rust free.

I clean the bike and spray the chain with GT85 before storing it. That seems to be enough

I was worried that the discs might corrode because obviously they can't have lube sprayed on them, but they have been fine so far!

I'd say upgrade to a tarp with eyelets and then anchor a pair of eye bolts into the wall and use a bungee type connector on them to hold the tarp in place, this should stop any movement of it in windy conditions. You could also use a couple of similar bolts to run a lock through if you haven't already.

I've got some large outside bike covers for the ones furthest away from the weather plus a large trailer tarpaulin for the closest.

A lorry tarp I believe!🤣

@tyred - what do you do about security?

It's in my own personal back yard, surrounded bya 6' high wooden fence and locked gate. I also have a chain and padlock running to one one of the fence posts.

I know it's not the level of security many would want but my bikes are not really that desirable and it's an area of low crime anyway.

I also have a great theft deterrent in the form of neighbours who leave their expensive e-bikes unsecured in their porch. I like to think they would attract the attention of anyone looking for something to steal and make money.
