Hi guys

As per title really, what's the best and easiest way to measure cadence on a turbo? I guess it would be some kind of cateye sensor or similar ?

I'm going to get a suffer feast DVD for training so need to measure cadence

Regards

A proper computer/sensor unless you want to count for 10secs x6 15secsx4 or 12secsx6

Frankly, I prefer my brain to be concentrating on the absolute hurt

Make your own rev counter from any* cheap cycle computer

Details here.

*assumes you can input a four digit figure for wheel circumference.

That's a neat idea. I thought there might be a way of using a cycle computer to measure cadence but my feeble brain couldn't figure it out.
Must give it a go.
Thanks for that.

I don't know what the requirements of that DVD's training programme are but when I was using my gym bike I just used to alternate between easy spinning with little resistance (warm up/recovery/warm down) and giving it death! I never bothered counting cadence or anything else other than the time spent on my efforts.

Even with the 20% climbs round here, I have never hurt my legs as much on the road as I used to in my gym bike sessions! I often couldn't walk up the stairs afterwards so I'd have to crawl up to take my post-session bath.

It did the trick though - a painfully hard winter led on to comfortable spring cycling and a very good summer on the bike.

The best and easiest way is to get a specific cadence computer but I've seen on youtube how you can modify an existing computer to measure cadence rather than speed.
Edit Sittingbull has linked to one :becool:
