As title really, what are the best road tyres for a maximum of £50 for a pair. They need to be grippy in both wet and dry condidtions. Also the smaller the rolling resistance the better as I will be circuit racing on them next year.

I'd go with either of these as choices. I do like the GP 4000 Contis, but I know they have their detractors here.

Be warned though, they aren't great for winter/general riding as they will wear quicker.

Another vote for the Conti' 4000's.

I'm sure there are lighter / quicker rolling tyres out there but you'll probably find this performance comes at a cost. For example the lack of any puncture protection belt.

For racing I'm still a big fan of tubular tyres /rims. Although there's not much in it I still think a good tubular tyre pumped up HARD (200psi) out performs a standard clincher tyre. (If you can cope with the hard ride). Admitidly it's hard to tell with tubular rims being lighter to begin with. The only trouble with tubular tyres is if you get a puncture you're walking. This is a big problem on training rides but not much of an issue on a circuit where you're never that far away from the car.

I'm very keen to try these for racing. The cost has been putting me off though!
