Wondering what's the best time to buy a bike.
I'm not in a hurry and wonder if bikes get considerably cheaper in winter. Are there seasonal sales etc. If yes, when?
Cheers.
A lot might depend on what size you are. The sales seem to start around September when next year's bikes are announced. Around now stocks of sale bikes are reducing in certain sizes but still some good bargains to be had. For example, I'm picking up a Cube Peleton Pro today reduced from £929 to £679, but only 58cm left.
Depends what you are looking for and how much you want to spend...absolute £££ saving will be on most costly bikes, % discount probably around the same regardless (but 30% of £500 is rather less than 30% of £5000)
Best savings are probably going to be on a lightly used second hand bike purchased on a whim by a MAMIL
At that price point, you should be able to find something used...or there's always the Carrera Subway from Halfords that is usually on 'sale' at that sort of price...yep...
If you can stretch a bit with the budget, have a look at the Merlin S2200. When I got mine there was an extra 10% off for buying online, it's a cracking bike, light, well equipped and well built (nearing 5000 commuting miles) for the price.
It's probably a cracking deal but that's a bit more than I would like "stretch". Also atm I'm looking at flat-bar options.
But thank you. It's something to consider.
Like others say. September to end of November, I would say. After that most of the 2013 stock will have sold. In December there maybe some stock left but often in odd sizes (well for me anyway). Bagged myself a bargain 2013 Cube Agree GTC SLT earlier this month, was about half the rrp.
I bought in January but was very lucky to find that the size I wanted still available. Some of the bike store groups will get in a sale item from other branches if they have sold out. Well worth asking.
