How is a pair of tight fitting swimming trunks going to help measure speed?
Seriously,you dont need to spend anywhere near £60 if you just want to measure speed and distance.
You can get a decent wired "speedo" for less than £10 and wireless for around £30. If you send £60 you should get a cadence sensor too.
On my commute I use a wired £5 Lidl computer, it does everything you require and works fine. I have a cateye strada cadence double wireless to use at other times.

I prefer to avoid wireless bike computers because I hear too many stories of them recording inaccurately due to interference.
I use a wired Cateye Enduro 8, which can be got for under £20 and is as good as you need for the job. To echo Beebo, you really don't need to spend £60 if all you want to measure is speed and distance. [Edit: and even that is more than you really need to spend.]

Have a look at the Specialized Sport Elite at Cyclestore.co.uk, wired with cadence, temperature, 2nd bike etc £14.99.
Got one and it makes no sense to spend more unless going the GPS route.

For a good while I used a £10 'Giant' branded wired cycling computer, showed time, speed, distance travelled, average speed and temperature, had no problems with it, only stopped using it when I had upgraded to a GPS based cycling computer.

I had a Cateye Cadence wired computer, very good but the head unit attachment was dodgy in the wet and it would stop working.
I have switched to the wireless version to get around this. It comes down to how much you will use it, not knowing my trip distance and average speed really annoyed me so I did something about it by getting a new computer. I like the Cateye units so moving to the wireless version was a pretty obvious choice for me.

IMO wireless looks better but if you are going wireless you want to spend, whereas with wired you don't need too. IIRC my micro wireless was £36 and has interference just once whereas my cheap raleigh Echo (wireless) circa £11 is more prone to interference, you pays your money (so as to speak)

I use the cateye wireless, works ok no probs only been using it for six months, so don't know how it will fair in the long term, but i'am happy with it.
Got a wireless Cateye Velo on one bike and a Cateye Strada Wireless on the other. Never had the slightest problem with either. I left the Strada on my bike when I fitted a Garmin Edge 705 and over a 70 mile ride they're within a tenth of a mile of each other. Can recommend both but if you're like me (failing eyesight 
) the Velo is much easier to read.

I had a £30 wireless speedo on the bike, which started incrementing by itself every time the front light was on flashing mode.
It went at 0.01 miles per flash, and clocked up 70 miles once on a 20 mile ride.
Then when i fitted my memorymap sat nav unit beside it, it just sulked and wouldn't receive the sender unit until the satnav
was switched off!!
100% garmin edge 800 man now.

Evens have the cateye velo wireless for £24 at the moment. Similar prices online without looking at PP.
I love it, not had a problem with interference and the batteries last a fair amount of time.
But you can get great wired ones for far less!
