Best route Hull to Whitby/Moors?

Not exactly an 'expedition' or touring but looking to see if anyone's cycled up that way before and what roads to avoid etc? It's going to be an overnight trip so don't need to be on the faster roads, and any views/getting up high would be good for photography would be appreciated.

Any advice appreciated, and thanks.

I have no idea if it's part of the best route, but earlier today I was being shown some walking routes just west of Robin Hood's bay, around Littlebeck, and it looked fantastic.

I don't know if that helps though.

I've peddled the rail track from Scarborough to Whitby with my daughter, it was nice, and easy going, but I think I'd go across the moors next time.

Just had a quick google map of the area around Littlebeck and it looks absolutely lovely - if we go across that way then I'll be sure to make sure we spend some time there.

The campsites we've seen seem to be more in the Pocklington area - across to the West & center. I think it will be a day cycling up, a day exploring the moors, go to another campsite and then bike back down the next day, nice and easy and plenty of time to take it all in.

I've found when cycling those sorts of tracks you get sort of closed in and don't really see much, or at least that's what it's like for Hull - Hornsea, so I think I'd agree and go across the moors.

Probably a bit off your course but Blakely ridge was seriously hard from the north going south but there is a pub campsite there which is excellent (assuming you don't want 4 star facilities) and despite the sign saying walkers of the C2C route only, they let anyone use it. We camped there back in 2011... excellent views if you get the right weather and are not too exhausted to appreciate them!

We will be cycling North to South somewhere closer to the coast in roughly 3-4 weeks time. Probably sticking with the cycle track this time... perhaps
