Hi
Just got a Spec Tricross with 700 x 38 tyres and need mudguards for the commute.
Are SKS Chromoplatic the way to go?
Any other suggestions?
Cheers

SKS Chromoplastic are probably the best there is.

They also do Bluemels, which in my opinion are just as good.

I've got one of each on my two bikes and am equally happy with both.

Tortec also do some good guards.

Then there's the Halfords own brand ones. Not as good but do the job.

You could also explore the various Crud incarnations.

SKS chromoplastic mudguards are very good. I've got them on the Yukon and Galaxy with no issues or irritating rattles. I did replace the old chromoplastic guards on the Galaxy last year after the fittings broke (probably down to a combination of corrosion, metal fatigue and horrible road surfaces).

I've got full length Tortec guards on the hack. Not quite as elegant as SKS and they rattle a bit but they were cheaper and do the job.

SKS on my winter commuter (not sure what model they are...for 25mm tyres), theyve survived 2 or 3 years with no problems...and as McWobble says, no rattles at all.

Check out SKS Commuter mudguards too - very understated. The rear guard is a little bit shorter that the Chromoplasics or Bluemels if you need to stand the bike on the back wheel at work.
