Perhaps a surprising choice, but for me it was "Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes", the fourth instalment of the reboots. It really had an epic quality about it with the "quest" narrative, visually fantastic show-show-not tell and got you engrossed in the perils faced by the group of ape protagonists and the fate of their tribe. Wonderful scenes where the group journey through the ruins of our human world and a joyous moment when the come across some zebras, now living wild.
Other honourable mentions "Argylle", a gloriously silly spy romp expensively made with very high production vallues
"Civil War", a powerful film about photojournalists and war, with the backdrop of a scarily plausible US civil war.
Dune 2: already described by others. Visually stunning and does justice to the book, and doesn't depart too much from Frank Herbert's vision
"One Love" covering some key events in Bob Marley's life: particularly assassination attempt and Jamaica's political violence, Bob's attempts to use his music to promote non-violence and peace, and the making of the Exodus album
