Hey all, I'm sure this question has passed through a thousand times before, but as new products are always hitting the market and there's always fresh faces to express their opinions I thought I'd start a thread.

In short, I'm after the best front light for under £40.

I've seen the CREE T6 lights which do intrigue me, and I have read the thread on them on here. They seem ultra powerful and effective, but the hassle of the external battery pack and the frequently reported breakdowns are rather off-putting.

Is there any others that people would recommend?

For £40 you can buy two. They are fine and work well. Go pull the trigger

WOW! That's a great deal, and thanks for the offer!
However, I think in the time it's taken me to come back to this thread I've backtracked and think I may go for a CREE. Thanks very much for your help anwhoo.

Content with current front lights, but after following some of the links about the subject, I've just bought a MetroFlash Danger Zone Tail light for under a tenner on Amazon. (Had to get a DVD to ensure free delivery - but hey, the reissued BBC Christmas Eve ghost stories are great.)

I've had my T6 light for a few days now and I'm very impressed with it. I have put the battery under the seat post, and to be honest you don't even realise its there.

Just checked this out, looks an impressive little light, I may have to invest. Currently working on building myself something similar to this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Fire-Helmet...8&qid=1386520656&sr=8-7&keywords=helmet+light as it seems the best solution for rear helmet lights without the design affecting the helmets performance on impact.

Will be intrigued as to what you think of them - it's something I've never considered. (I'll post an update on the rear light when it arrives.)
I'll post it up when it's done, see what you think. The more exciting bike light project I'm working on at the moment are rim illuminators that automatically activate when the bike starts rolling and only if it's dark. Just waiting for the last couple of things...

Would be good to hear what you think of the MetroFlash, from the pics on Amazon it looks blindingly powerful for a rear, if it does live up to expectations its a no-brainer
