Signed up for my employers Bike4 work scheme today and get to spend up to £1k on a new steed. My LBS, to whom I am pretty loyal, stock Scott and Giant which, within the £1k limit, don't really excite me with any of their offerings.

Anyone got any advice as to a road bike I can get to with a participating dealer for the amount I have to spend? Will be using it to get fitter then for longer rides once we are out of winter?

Thanks

Paul

PS: Apologies for another 'which bike' question in advance.

Good bike, excellent spec for the dosh, nice chaps, C2W scheme too.

I can vouch for this being a very, very nice bike - because I've got one!!!

Just submitted my C2W forms for the same value. Unfortunately, Planet X were not one of the makes available, but would have definitely considered one if it was.
I did a lot of asking and searching, as well as trying and plumped for the Boardman Team Carbon. Another consideration for you? I know the problems with Halfords, but as has been said on here lots of times - don't be put off a fantastic bike just because the only place you can get it is Halfords. Mine will be going straight to my LBS and always to there for service or repairs.

Orbea carbon bikes are fantastic value for money.

Now I do like the look of the Orbea bikes actually and will have a look on their website and find a dealer.

If you are in the South-East, then I can testify for my LBS in Southend which are an Orbea dealer - and I can vouch for the service as the owner is a family friend. They do look nice bikes, shame I cant afford one...

Ribble do some nice bikes for this sort of money.

I'd like the Ribble Sportive.......... but I've just had 1 new bike so might have to wait just a leeeeetle bit for one.

Got to agree with Threebikes, I went through the same and was also loyal to my LBS but in the end Planet X won hands down also offering a lot more specific advice on set up, if you can get to the warehouse its worth it to get your tailored bike. I've also got one and its fantastic. I have been on many bikes at a similar price many of the major brands but it is more responsive, lighter, more comfortable and feels very robust. If they aren't on the RTW scheme list then have word with your HR and see if you can get them added.

Good luck
