You can't put Look (or road) cleats on MTB shoes. Though you can put MTB Cleats on some road shoes.

Have a look at the XTR SPD pedals. They won't be much different weight wise to road pedals.
Not that you would notice the difference anyway as you have your size 12's stomping on them.

You are only talking about 30-40g's difference in weight per pair pedals between XTR's and Look's.

If you want to use mtb shoes you'll need a cleat with a two bolt pattern - like the spd cleat. What about something like Specialized touring shoes and a touring spd pedal (shimano A600).

Or for just over half the price, the XT (Deore) are 343g

Regarding the carbon Looks, I'll admit 260g including cleats is pretty lightweight, but I could get a really nice wheel for that price!
Personally I'm currently content with a pair of neutron-star-dense M520s (420g) and Specialized Tahoe shoes.

You could get a nice wheel for that, you may have to pay a bit more for a really nice wheel,^_^
