Backgammon in the pub every Friday lunchtime. Nice simple game with loads of scope for banter, especially when I get to "second pint mode" .

Frustration is a hit in our household. Even the youngest (4 y/o) can join in.

Cranium, although it only comes out at Christmas for some reason we all end up falling about laughing when we play it. And we are scrabble addicts - we like to get a game in when we are alert enough (ie not knackered or drunk!).

Scrabble for me too - only really get to play it at my Folks thought between Chrimble and New Year. Although I have it now on the iPad so can (I think) play anyone using their Facebook version of it (no idea how though, just yet).

Also love Cleudo but it takes an age and you have to be thinking quite clearly!

I was playing virtual scrabble on facebook with a mate for months... then we both admitted to each other we'd been cheating, by using an online scrabble solver

It was almost as fun as playing the game for real

Monopoly occasionally gets an airing in our house, but you need a few hours set aside to really get into it.

Puzzle game procrastinator!
I used to play backgammon a lot, or Risk if I had 2 or more friends round.

Scrabble got a look-in from time to time.

Once in a while I played chess and always thought that I'd really get into it one day, but it's too much like hard work if I've had even a whiff of alcohol - that's what backgammon is for!

Give Junior Monopoly a try. Far better than the normal Monopoly - way more changes of fortune and none of that sinking feeling that you get in the normal game when someone puts hotels on Mayfair and Park Lane!

We had a Junior Monopoly Family Challenge this year complete with little silver cup! It's taken over from the full Monopoly Challenge because full Monopoly was just taking too long. + Junior Monopoly relies totally on luck with no opportunities for underhanded deviousness involved which makes it fun for little ones to play on an equal footing with grown-ups.

...so +1 for what Beanz said!!

We like Anagram:

Especially when playing house rules (yes, you can keep very rude words to make poetry at the end).

We also play card games a lot. But I mean Illuminati, Chrononauts (love that game), Grass and the ilk.

Warhammer Quest, but you can't get that any more. Minion Hunter is fab, again I think it is no longer available.

Used to like Space Hulk, too, but our copy was stolen from a friend's car (well, it was his copy, but it was the one we used to play) and I don't think that one's published any more, either. Maybe Ebay? I should look.

Scrabble, obviously. Used to like Trivial Pursuit (House Rules) but the new ones are rubbish. Genus IV was the last one we liked.

Love Plague, but don't get to play it very often:

Aargh.... a long time ago, I used to play Illuminati quite a bit. Talisman (and expansion sets) was a favouite, plus Car Wars (a sort of Mad Max-esque think that's really a tabletop game as opposed to a board game*), Bloodbowl (a sort of fantasy American football game with well, added blood), along with Risk and its more high stakes Cold War version, Supremacy, but nothing and I mean nothing could beat Dune (especially with the Spice Harvest expansion set).

*also not a board game geek at all...

Monopoly makes for a fast paced 20 mins, actually shorter than when we play cludo at my parents

Risk and colditz are good except no one will play
