Best bike for my size

I've not been cycling properly for about 6 years and I have put on a lot of weight 16 stone ish now :-( and I was wondering if there is a limit on a road bike as I've been looking at a few and I know some people who have them but they are a lot smaller than me and I don't want to invest in one if I'm goin to be too heavy for it, any advice would be much appreciated and any suggestions on bikes would be good max I can spend is about 250 ish.

You'd be fine on a Triban 3 from decathlon for £300. Some big/ tall riders out there. 16 stone really isn't heavy ultimately. Probably want to get better wheels in time anyhow

I spent about that on my Dawes Giro 200 earleir this year; I'm 90kg+ (at the moment!) and it seems fine.
