Best Bike for £1000

My favourites at the moment are the Boardman Team Carbon and the Cube Attempt, but which is better?
Also, if I'm spending a grand is it better to get a sale 2010 bike or a 2011 bike?

It's an old chestnut but it won't make a blind bit of difference if neither of those bikes fit, so you'd be better off with a test ride if possible. I can recommend the Boardman as I have an MTB from their stable and the finishing kit is great value. But, if it were my £1000, I would test ride a Cannondale Synapse 105 (2011) and go from there. I would think (and I bought a 2010 Secteur recently, saving £200) that last year's models may be becoming thin on the ground in as much as many of the sizes of a particular model will have long sold out.

Best bike for £1000, a £2000 bike with 50% off.

I got a £1000 bike for £500 because it was a discontinued model, but the 105 groupset was still current.

This is a good deal at the moment though.
