Or is it wise? Anyone else do it?

It's not for me by the way - my sister is pathologically obsessed by her dog and wants to take her everywhere!

Depends on the temperament of the dog. Our terrier is a nutter and would spend its time trying to break out, barking at anything and it would never stay still.

Here for rides.
I regularly see a dog being transported in a wooden crate on a front mounted rack. In cph such things are commonplace.

My wife would love to take our JR on her bike but the mutt has a
pathological hatred of anything with wheels. This was brought on when she was a pup, by a lad up the road who kept skidding his BMX outside our garden gate purposely to make the dog bark.
Now she will have a go at scooters, wheelchairs, shopping trolleys et al.
I've seen a guy around our village whose JR stands on a carpeted wooden board fitted on the top tube of me his bike. Good as gold - stands there at all speeds, wearing doggles and grinning like hell.

I see lots of them in Denmark.
Personally, I would not bother with a trailer. They are a pain to drag around.

Just an unusual word of warning. Jannie had to attach her basket to the frame of the bike so it didnt move when she turned the handlebar because her dog got travel sickness.

There is a JR near us that hates ladders. Perfectly happy until it sees anyone up a ladder.
