beginner road cyclist

hello all and thanks for taking the time to read this . first off im new to road cycling as i used to ride a mtb so id happily receive all the advice i can get , secondly im interested in joining a cycle club for the sat/Sunday rides as i primarily work during the week , but being a beginner i really would hate to hold anyone of the more experienced cyclists back on any rides , im based in the colchester area and would greatly appreciate if anyone knows of any groups and any help i can get

Any good club would be unlikely to leave you behind;my local club has a 'relaxed' Saturday ride which is open to anyone and you'll be surprised at how fast you can go in a good group.

My local (for the modern age, Tunbridge Wells) cycle shop does monthly ride outs with three speed classes. Might be worth asking around the shops in Colchester to see if any do similar. They should know the local scene.

Look at British Cycling's website, find local clubs, look at their websites and then start calling / emailing to ask about their rides
