Does he only have one trick? The thing that impressed me most about "Extras" was that he hadn't just made "The Office 2". More like a modern "Canterbury Tales" than anything.
I thought he pulled off a very neat trick in Extras, in that every script brought out the true character of the actor behind it. Hence my reference to the Canterbury Tales.
Yes. I think he's overrated and I think he'll do well in America as his humour is very much to their taste. For me, once you've seen one long awkward pause the next five-hundred are boring.
I think the real star of Extras was Ashley Jenson - Maggie. Her acting was lovely.
I'm afraid that I take the conventional view that both The Office and Extras were works of brilliance and originality. His third venture will perhaps be the true test of him.
