I have one (but have now migrated to Garmin). Really straight forward to use, very clear directions but they are very limited on some of the stats that you get compared with the Garmin; they’re really a navigation tool (perfect if that’s your main desire). The Beeline app is a fantastic navigation tool; it allows you to select your root preference and has a very handy colour coded route assessment which is based on riders rating the road. It’s so good I still use this then send it to my Garmin! Overall, it’s a really good bit of kit if navigation is your thing, at the expense of some of the more detailed ‘fitness’ type stats.

I had the original Beeline. I liked the idea of minimalist navigation, just following an arrow rather than having a full map on screen. I liked the Beeline but it was a little bit irritating sometimes how there was lag in it updating, causing me to miss turns especially at complex junctions. But I was a fan of the principle.

I've recently upgraded to a Beeline 2 and used it for the first time last week in the Netherlands. Love it. There's no lag, and the slightly more detailed display makes it much clearer which turn you're meant to take when there are two close together.

I only want it for navigation, I'm not particularly interested in stats other than distance covered (and I record the rides on my watch so that deals with that).

Setting it up is simple. You install the Beeline app and pair the device to your phone via Bluetooth. Then whenever you have a route in the Beeline app and tap Go, the navigation appears on your Beeline display. Simple as that.

I don't use the Beeline app to plan routes. I plan those in cycle.travel then export the GPX and import it into the Beeline app. That means I don't get recalculation if I go off route but I'm fine with that.

Big thumbs up for the Beeline Velo 2 from me.

Thanks very much for all that info. I use RouteLab to plan and print my routes. Would I be able to transfer these to my Beeline (Coming tomorrow)? They are saved as gpx 1.1 (route POI). It would be great if I could. Thanks again.

Yes it should be fine. I've imported GPX files from various sources into Beeline.

Thank you for your help with this. I am now up and running with my Velo2 and have successfully downloaded 15 routes onto my Beeline app. All ready for forthcoming trips to Herefordshire and Pwllheli. This forum is really great for numpties like me!! Thanks again. Next time I see you in the bar I will buy you a drink.

Have you tested it on more local roads to start with? Every gps / nav device out there has its quirks. Always worth finding out what they are before you depend on it.

Just as an aside, I can recommend the top cap mount for the Velo 2. You just remove your top cap (which as long as your stem is tightened up isn't doing anything anyway) and replace it with the Beeline top cap. The Velo 2 then just clips in and out of the top cap mount.

Maybe not a huge benefit but it just saves space on the handlebars/stem which can be used for something else, or just makes things a bit less cluttered.

I had one when I was using a lot of bike-share schemes and Brompton hire lockers. It does exactly what it's designed for really well. Nice and clear, less chance of being grabbed by a scrote at lights in London, decent battery life and ideal for quickly putting on the bars with the universal mount. Biggest challenge was remembering to take it back off when returning or parking the bikes!

Used my new Beeline this week in Herefordshire. Really pleased with it and how easy it was to use. Massive thanks to you people on this forum for all your help. I used routes from My-Route App and emailed them to my Beeline App. Worked a treat and even when we left the route for a short distance the beeline followed us as a dotted line then back to a solid line when we re-joined the route. Very impressed with it and thanks all once more. Even my wife said "you're not as daft as you look".
