Sorry to appear unsympathetic but "put his head down and pedalled fast" on a dark road?? Regardless of how well you think you know a road that just strikes me as a touch shall we say misguided rather than a stronger word.

so what has 'not wearing the ideal kit' and 'improved his and his bikes visibility' got to do with him riding head long into a skip?
Was just about to post the same thing.

As I learnt on Friday night while coming home after my leaving do and face planted! Ambulance and A&E... Fortunately, only superficial damage but I do look a fright

Alcohol was involved

I have had to delay my new job start by a week :B)
(My 'like' was meant with sincere empathy. No giggling was involved at any stage. GWS.)

Sounds painful, I hope you heal soon.

I look like I have been 10 rounds with Mike Tyson, faced off a sabre tooth tiger and been kneecapped...but it's all good

I could have broken my cheek, eye socket, nose, jaw, wrists, knees...I just knackered my glasses...so I am feeling lucky lol

Ouch - get well soon !

As for the blog, well, ditto.

My Dad was against me getting a drop bar bike as a lad, because he thought that it was too easy not to look far enough ahead. One of my pals with a drop bar bike diverted his attention from the road onto his front wheel, and ended up crashing through the back windscreen of a legally-parked Fiesta XR2.
