Her in doors has given me permission to replace the bb5's on my boardman cx with bb7's
(Safety you see )

So, do I just buy the road version of the bb7's, take the 5's off and setup?

Will I have to change the rotors too?

Being totally new to this bike maintenance lark any pointers would be appreciated...

Also, where's the best place to get the bb7's

road bb7's swap out fairly well with road bb5's, though I'd upgrade the cables and run full-length high quality housings with in-line adjusters at the same time. existing rotors will be fine.

the usual stores, fleabay or those nice german types as a source of supply.

There are a couple of more threads on here containing links to useful setup sources of info. The Avid instructions are a waste of paper.

I changed the front only a few months ago, most awkward thing for me was the fact my BB5 didn't have the inline adjuster, whereas the BB7's do.
Had to cut the outer and sort that out, quite easy once you work out where you want them to be

Was hoping the BB7's would cure the squealing in the wet but if anything they are even louder

Hmmm, what do you mean by this?
The in-line adjusters have to be fitted somewhere along the cable run near the shifter end, to do this you have to cut the outer cable and insert the adjuster into each part of the cable.

I re-used the cable that was already fitted, just fitted a new inner
