BB30 to 24mm Converter

My BB30 bearings only seem to be lasting 4-5K and so rather than replace them for the second time I’ve decided to try a converter and run a Shimano RS500 chainset I’ve got hanging around in the garage.

Velotech are currently selling the Rotor Adapter for £25 which is about £20 less than RRP.

I fitted it this afternoon and very straight forward it was too.

Note that if like me you own a CAADX, then many of the available adapters such as the FSA version won’t fit due to machined ridges in the bottom bracket shell. No such problems with the Rotor adapter which is inserted from both sides and screwed together.

The only downside to the Rotor adapter is that when the bearings fail you have to replace the complete adapter. Is is fairly light though in comparison with the alternatives. Also, it is fairly simple to change back to BB30.

I’ll be interested to see how long the bearings last.

I can't comment on this particular adapter, but FWIW I converted my CAAD10 using the FSA one you mentioned and it's been perfect ever since :okay:
