BB Square taper size

I think I need to replace my bottom bracket square taper bearing and not sure what size to order. I imagine the shell size will be 68mm but i don't know the spindle length but it will need to run with a triple chain-wheel. can anyone advise me please.

Depends on the chainset. Sheldon Brown has an extensive list.

Can you not just measure the existing one or even if you are lucky see if the figures are still visible?

If you are keeping the chainset then the spindle will need to be the same size as the one you have. If getting a new chainset the specifications will tell you which size spindle to use.

In any case, a good read of Sheldon Brown as suggested above should help you work out what you need to consider.
