When I purchased my Bafang electric conversion kit and lithium battery I also purchased a programming cable which came with software installed.

When programming, I followed the many internet suggestions concerning battery charging and discharging to maintain the battery in the best condition.

For the last year I've had the charging set to only charge to 80% and to stop providing power once the level has dropped to 20%. With this level of charging I can get up to 60 miles of use.

It seems that I'm therefore only able to use 60% of the battery capacity with my current settings.

What levels do other electric users charge to? Would I be imprudent if perhaps I changed the parameters to 90% and 10% which should give me an extra 20% of battery charge to use ?

Er it depends, I'd say no more than once a week or every 50-60 miles whichever comes first.

I'm not sure what a programming cable is though, unless it's an official accessory I wouldn't use it with mine.

The programming cable lets you:
Change the number of assist levels.....I have nine.
Lets you select the amount of assist at each level.....mine is increments of 10%
Select highest and lowest percentage of battery charge... mine is 80% to 20%
Allows you to select when assist comes on......mine is after one rotation of the crankset.
Enables you to overide the 15 m.p.h. limit when off-road.
Some other features which I can't remember at the moment.

To do the programming, the cable is connected between a P.C. and the Bafang head unit. Once finished with ,it can be removed from the head unit. Cost was around £16 and was purchased via Ebay.

Normally around 90% and try not to go too low. But it happens and I do go to less than 10%. I don't let the bike sit at low level of charge. It immediately goes on the charger when back home
