Anyone got a recomendation for a close fitting base layer - for wicking sweat away that has at least a front zip and 3/4 zip would be the ideal.
SS also but also a LS version for cooler times.
Prefer to keep my cycling jersey as 'dry' as possible.

I may have the worng end of the stick here, but I thought the point of base layers was to wick sweat away from the body to the outer layers where it can evaporate.

Having a zip (open) would seem to reduce the amount of base layer in contact with the body, and thus reduce effectiveness.

I don't think a base layer will keep your jersey dry, as pointed out by Landslide, they wick sweat away from your skin and straight into your jersey.

I have a couple of 1/2 zip bases - I got one from TKMax and one from Sports Warehouse. Technically they are walking tops I think, but who cares.

It might have a bit misguided question...the zip on base layer was to enable rapid cooling after effort/interval phases... unzip let the air in.. then zip up and next interval...
Its also I have had to resort to napisan to get the lingering aromas banished from my cycling tops prior to a general laundry...
I was in a cycling shop a month or 2 back and they had these 'hydrophobic' or whatever base layers from helly hansen, that I cant track down on the web very well.
They were quite thin material and did have a 1/4 zip..

I am quite open to alternative solutions of course.
Tkmax.. nah . only joshin'
