Base Layer`s or other ??

Please can anyone point me in the right direction for a good but not expensive base layer, Meriono wool ones i hear are the best but out of my price range, i do feel the cold so any help would be appreciated cheers

There are lots of option for base layers, I use Helly Hansen base layers, not too expensive and so far very reliable and long lasting. I work outdoors so I use them at work as well as cycling.

Helly base layers here too, don't get on with merino ones as I find them a bit itchy

Campri thermal ones from Sports Direct. They were doing them, 2 for a tenner last year. Also worth checking out Planet X, they have some utter bargains for this kind of thing. What's your budget, incidentally?

layers is the answer to cold,when i was poorer jumble sales were ideal but i have no issues with dead mens clothes

Yes, those would do the job nicely, I only use the long sleeved tops, I wear roubaix bib tights or thermal leggings depending on which kind of cycling I'm doing.

I had an Aldi Merino T which was lovely, but it unfortunately got put into the tumble drier.....

They still had some merino tops last time I was in, about £16
