Barrel adjusters

I'm in the process of converting my flat bar bike to drops. Are there any good types of barrel adjusters I can fit to the bike. Some came with the sti's but this would mean drilling holes into my frame I don't really want to do that and I would need some more for the brakes. They're 'v' brakes BTW.

In-line cable adjusters are what you need, try a Giant cealer.
STI brake levers are not compatible with V brakes btw.

The lbs reckoned that my mini v's are compatable with sti's, they seem to wire up correctly, albeit minus in-line cable adjusters. I'll see how I get on. If they do prove to be incompatable is there another avenue I can investigate?

I think Mickle might be referring to the leverage offered by STI levers, there are incompatibilities that cannot be resolved just by correctly wiring them up.

It's to do with mechanical advantage, HLab. Brake levers pull differing amounts of cable, and the brakes they're attached to are setup to work with the amount of cable that's pulled by the lever.

Hmm, nothing is tightened yet but if the brakes to turn out to be innefficient due to leverage is there another option to consider.

I had a look on line thanks to mickle's tip and found these In line Gear Cable Adjusters and In Line Brake Adjusters but I'll see what the lbs have 1st.

Cheers, I popped to the lbs and they knew exactly what that thing was when I described it poorly and said they are very good and if I don't get enough purchase on my brakes try one of them but my mini brakes should be ok.

Cheers again, I fitted the in-line cable adjusters last night they done the job perfectly the gears seem OK. I realised however I needed another couple for my brake cables, popped back to the lbs they had none, I must of took their last pair. I then popped accross to another lbs and they had none either but then they referred me to their work shop the mechanic came out with exactly what I needed minus the plastic bits but I had them from my last set, so no worries. I asked what I owed him but he said don't worry about it . So here's a shameless plug for Velo Ecosse
