Bar tape

The bar tape on my bike is crap !
It seems that there are a lot of different types of tape.
I want the best type for padding...... Can anyone recommend the right tape for me please.

For padding.. Specialized Bar Phat.

I used to use the Bontrager cork stuff, but I prefer non-padded now and use fizik tape or "ye olde worlde" cotton tape.

I eventually hated the squidgy feeling in my hand. Especially when climbing, when I may have been gripping harder. I don't find the vibrations any worse for it and I possibly enjoy the 'feel' of the bike a little more. I actually suffer less with vibration numbness than I did with the squishy stuff even after 60+ mile rides.

Fizik 3mm, around £14, or Lizard skin 3.2 at £24 (best price from Halfords at the mo)

Specialized bar phat only comes in black, so I wouldn't personally choose it

I got some Giant tape, I didn't have a choice as it's all the bike shop had, but turned out to be chunky and comfy. £8.99 if I remember correctly.

I just re-wrapped with some Specialized S-Wrap, thicker than the stock stuff, very comfy.

I re wrapped my bike with Lizard skin a few weeks ago and I like it. It also has plenty of grip too.

I put Ritchey stuff on my Kinesis and I've been very happy with it for the money; I think when I replace it I'll go for it again.
