Bar ends

A colleague at work is looking to start cycling again. Or rather, I have, my route is 11 miles each way, he's about 4.5 each way and he's turning into a lardy batsrad and he's started smoking cigars again! Anyhoo, he wants some bar ends to make his life more comfortable, but can only find those which clamp on the end of your handlebars, necessitating the shuffling towards the centre of one's handlebars of grips, brake levers, shift levers etc.
I have a pair which fit into the ends of my handlebars and have and expanding wedge a la handlebar stem, but I can't find them anywhere on the 'net. There's no makers name on them, I'm not selling him mine:tongue:, anyone know of a potential supplier please?;)

I'm not sure anyone is making them any more. I found a page saying that Answer Hyperends were the last, and that was dated about 1996.
I believe the problem was that they tend to split lightweight handlebars.

It's fairly normal to trim a centimetre or so off the end of the rubber bar grip rather than move the brake levers and shifters.

Hadn't thought of that option Bigtwin, thanks for the suggestion.
Thanks also andrew_s, that explains why they aren't about any more. I'll suggest cutting the grips down but I suspect he's making up excuses so he doesn't have to cycle to work

My parents live near Crowland in Holbeach St John and whilst you have fantastic flat roads for going all out and I would love to ride on them my fear of the absolutely menta drivers up your way puts me off 100%!

I'm even terrified when I'm driving, being on my bike would be simply out of the question especially with only a deep irrigation channel as an escape route!

How club runs survive on those roads I'll never know lol
