Band-on downtube cable stops?

I want to transfer all my geary gubbins from road bike to old 531 frame.

How do I fit the STI levers if there are no bosses on the downtube (or headtube) for the cable stops?

Would I need to run the outers all the way down to the guides on the bottom bracket?

you can buy a band on thing that effectively replaces your bosses - I believe SJS cycles has them, I got one for a pound or so from Websters cycles in Leicester - ask your local bike shop he may have some around.
